At Sub Culture, we don’t just visit the sea; we belong to it. To us, the reef isn’t just “scenery”—it’s a living teacher. But even the best teachers need a hand, especially when it comes to the plastic “uninvited guests” in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (SAM).
That’s why we are officially joining forces with Parley for the Oceans Mexico! We’ve signed the AIR Program commitment to ensure the “sub-surface” lifestyle stays pristine for generations to come.
The “Blue Math”: Why Your Dive Matters
We ground our experiences in data and real impact. Let’s look at the “Benthic Mapping” of our plastic savings:

The Divers: 6 divers + 2 crew.

The Frequency: 250 days of diving per year.

The Habit: On a standard boat, each person might use 2 plastic bottles to stay hydrated.

The Math: 8 people × 2 bottles × 250 days = 4,000 plastic bottles per year!
By switching to plastic-free refills and Parley-approved protocols, one single Sub Culture boat saves 4,000 bottles from potentially ending up in a landfill or in the ocean as a plastic island…
Our New “A.I.R” Culture
This isn’t just a shop policy; it’s our identity. We are moving with quiet authority to implement the Parley strategy:

A – AVOID: We’re breaking up with single-use plastics. 4,000 bottles? Not on our watch.

I – INTERCEPT: We’re hunting down Plastic and Ghost Gear (lost fishing nets) during beach clean ups and expeditions. We see it, we bag it, we report it.

R – REDESIGN: We’re redesigning the dive experience to be slow, intentional, and focused on Marine Prosperity.

Our commitment doesn’t stop at the shoreline. We invite you to visit the main plaza (the one with the clock!) to see the Elkhorn Coral public space design. It’s a sanctuary where you can explore conservation photos and see the community efforts of the “People of the Sea/Gente de Mar.”
