Sub Culture -Previously Punta Sur Divers- was founded in 2017. We work every day to make a positive impact and are committed to promoting best practices and responsible tourism.
Our operation is based out of Marina Asipona (formerly Marina Fonatur), located just south of town, where our boat, Keiko, is docked.
We do not offer transportation to the marina in Cozumel. While some people choose to arrive privately, this is not legally permitted. For safety and insurance reasons, only transportation services authorized by local authorities and taxi unions are allowed to operate to and from the marina.
Cozumel is an island with strict regulations on ground transportation, and any unauthorized service can lead to conflicts with authorities and local unions. For this reason, we are unable to provide transportation for clients and recommend planning your arrival using official options to avoid issues and ensure everyone’s safety.
From San Miguel (Town): Take Avenida 65 south until it merges with the highway, then turn left. Or, take the scenic Rafael Melgar Avenue (oceanfront road) south.
From Playa del Carmen: Taxis at the ferry pier take 10–15 minutes (~$120 MXN).
From Cruise Ship Piers (Puerta Maya or International Pier/SSA): Marina Asipona is located very close to these southern piers (less than a 5-minute taxi ride). Simply catch a taxi from the designated pier stand and tell the driver you are going to Marina Asipona (Fonatur).
At the Marina’s security gate, specify that you are diving with Sub Culture on the boat Keiko.
Once inside, head left from the main roundabout. We gather in the shaded area near the drugstore, close to the boat ramp. A member of the Sub Culture team will meet you there to assist with your bags and gear.
Standard departure at 8:30 AM (all seasons).
Scheduled for 1:30 PM or 2:00 PM.
We delay morning departures until 9:30 AM for those arriving from Playa del Carmen.
